West Australian footy runs through the WAFL. Nine WAFL clubs have a metropolitan district made up of junior football clubs, and their Colts and women’s teams are the state’s talent pathway. Country football is governed by Country Football WA across regions from the Great Southern to the Kimberley.
The WAFL season runs April to September, so the pre-season is built through a long, hot summer.
